Medieval Wall of Alcúdia
Overview
Once surrounded by walls, the city of Alcudia was a strategic location since the times of the Romans. The wall known as Jaume II's wall served a two fold purpose, provide the local population a safe haven from the elements, and as a defense against attacks such as looting pirates.
The wall construction began in the early 1300's through the 1400's. It had a total of 26 towers and a moat which is still visible today. Visitors can stroll along the top of the wall and it is safe for children, however, please keep an eye on them. There are two sides with stairs. A stroller can be carried up as there is plenty of space. The wall offers great views of various parts of the city and is a relatively short walk, all for free.
