Hiking in Cala Morlanda

Overview

Cala Morlanda itself is a small, but beautiful cala. Right on the outskirts of S'Illot, the naturesque area right next to the cala provides a fascinating area to go hiking, walking, running, meditation, or various other activities.

The vast space between S'Illot and Porto Cristo offer trails with twists and turns heading in various directions. The paths are right along the coast line, hence the trails are flat and dirt towards the inside of the land while being more rocky on towards the coast. The area is ideal for a hike between the two towns, spanning a distance of roughly 2.5 km in a straight line, hence with the winding paths and all the beauty of nature to discover you may end up walking more than 3 km through this nature filled area.

While there are a few houses around the Na Juliana area, the land is vast, hence there are no worries about private property. Along the way you'll also come across Cala Petita, a small cala with a small sandy beach and rocky entrance to the waters, however good for children as well.

Whether you start in Porto Cristo, along Avinguda Cala Petita or Carrer del Llaüt, or vice versa in S'Illot on Carrer de la Gavina, you'll find the hike in this area a joy for the soul. The paths are great for children roughly ages 5+, depending on your child. Bring along swimming gear to stop at one of the Cala's along the way for a refreshing dip. Make sure to wear good shoes as flips flops, especially for kids may not be ideal in this terrain. Strollers are also not ideal for this area.
