Talaiotic village of Ses Païsses
Overview
The Ses Paisses is a talayotic settlement roughly 500 meters from the town of Arta. It is located along Av. de Costa i Llobera and can easily be reached by foot or car. There is a free parking lot along the roundabout of the MA15 next to the Agromart Arta that typically offers plenty of space, depending on the time of day to park. From there it is roughly a 10 minute walk down the road.
The settlement stems from the Bronze Age and is one of the best-preserved sites in Mallorca.
Upon arrival at the gate you'll notice that there are also several picnic tables, trash bins, and a toilet that are free to use. The entrance to the area costs 2 euros per person, regardless of age. It seems more of a symbolic payment for the upkeep of the site than an entrance fee. The settlement dates back roughly 2500-3000 years and is basically the ruins of how people lived back then. Large stones have been excavated to show the settlement walls and houses.
It might get boring for younger toddlers, however, may be of interest to children to see these gigantic stones and how they were built. It is one quick walk around, hence no more than a 30-minute stroll, looking at the settlement, appreciating history and culture, reading a bit of the guide provided, and then heading back to the entrance.
