Visit the Parc de ses Estacions in Palma de Mallorca

Parc de ses Estacions, is a lovely and historic park in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The park is a popular location for both locals and tourists, with a range of activities and attractions to enjoy. It is well situated right behind the city center of Palma de Mallorca and right across the street from Plaça d’Espanya. Because of its prominent location, Palma de Mallorca’s Parc de Ses Estacions is one of the city’s most well-known green spaces in the city.

It gets its name from the fact that it is located in what used to be Mallorca’s rail line (Ferrocarriles). It was opened in 1999, but it was demolished in 2004 to make space for underground construction for the train tracks and subway, and it reopened in 2007.

It spans five blocks and features natural spaces and asphalt trails ideal for quiet walks with baby carriages or wheelchairs, short bike routes, and even sports like running. Hence, because of the many different walking paths that run through the park, it is a popular destination for joggers and those wanting to escape the direct city surroundings.

The park is also where you’ll find locals sitting and relaxing during the noon hours, taking a lunch break under one of the many trees. Later in the afternoon, after school hours, you’ll find families here as the park has two very fun and impressive play grounds. One is located towards the front entrance, on the Plaça d’Espanya side. It is ideal for younger toddlers and children with elements of music, rubber flooring and age related activities. Benches are next to the playground and it is easily accessible. The other is located towards the middle of the park and is absolutely a stunning playground for children of all ages however, geared towards school children ages 4-5 and older. One one side of the area where this playground is, is a large train with five wagons behind it, ideal for climbing through. Across from the train, you’ll find the “Palma Train Station” in the shape of a playground, ideal for climbing and sliding.

You will also find a large range of trees and green areas with seats and a large section in the middle with fountains within the Parc de Ses Estacions – where we can enjoy a great outdoor picnic while your child runs through the waters on a hot day. These fountains with “water jets” that come from the ground that are commonly utilized in the summer to cool off are a great outdoor activity – and its free. Children in swimsuits and flip flops run among the cool fountains, playing outdoor games. If you plan to enjoy the fountain jets in the summer, remember to bring extra clothing, a swimsuit, a towel, and flip-flops to protect your feet, as well as sun protection.

Because of its central location, it has the disadvantage of being overcrowded at certain times and seasons of the year. From time to time there are also events within the area. In the winter, an ice rink is generally erected in a park where the entire family can test their balance on the slick surface.

Visitors can take the bus or metro to the Plaça d’Espanya station, which is just a short walk from Parc de ses Estacions. Visitors can also drive to the park and park in one of the several parking lots found throughout the park and area along Avinguda d’Alexandre Rosselló.

Overall, Parc de ses Estacions is a must-see for any visitor to Palma de Mallorca. The park’s scenic surroundings, and diverse range of activities and attractions make it an ideal destination to spend an afternoon or even an entire day with children. Parc de ses Estacions provides something for everyone, whether you’re searching for a tranquil place to unwind or a fun playground to visit inbetween your touristic endeavors.
