The area is well-known for its unique environment, which supports a diverse range of plant and animal life, making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and bird-watchers.

Salines des Trenc's salt flats have been in use for generations and were once a key supply of salt for the island. The salt flats are still in use today, producing high-quality sea salt that is utilized in a variety of food products. Visitors can witness the salt production process and learn about Mallorca's salt industry's history.

The location is easily accessible by car, albeit there being narrow roads. There is a larger parking lot next to the salt flats, as well as a bus service that goes from Palma to Es Trenc.
