Playground Parc de la Mar
The Parc de la Mar playground is a beautiful and large playground very close to the Cathedral of Mallorca and right along one of the main streets that goes along the coast, Av. de Gabriel Roca. It is located in the same named park, Parc de la Mar which refers to the entire public space in front of the cathedral and wraps around the salt water lake and Passeig Dalt Murada, towards Baluarte del Principe.
The playground is a large space spread out across various play areas, designated for children of certain ages. You'll find a smaller play area to one side for younger children, while for older kids there is a large climbing tower with multiple slides. The entire area is within a large sandbox. There are benches around the park, as well as some trees to provide shade on sunny days. You'll find a water fountain towards one end, practical to wet caps, hair, or cool off.
The lush green grass behind the playground area is inviting for a rest, and you'll often find locals doing so during lunch hours. While there is shade, primarily where benches are located, the playground itself is not shaded and hence, the equipment can get very hot during the day, therefore the best play times are mornings or later afternoons when it is hot.
The front side of the playground has a fence, yet there are no designated entrance areas. Table tennis (ping pong) is right outside the playground towards the water fountain.
