Playground Bonner Straße II
Overview
This playground is located in Düsseldorfs district of Holthausen and is right off Muenchener Strasse. It is easily reachable by public transportation (U71, U83, 724) – stop “Niederheid”. It is also accessible by car and there are a few free public parking spaces in a parking lot right off Bonner Strasse. In front of the parking lot, you’ll find the “Gutshof Niederheid” which is an equestrian facility and to the right of that you’ll find the “Playground Bonner Strasse II.” It’s officially located within the “Freizeitpark Niederheider Waeldchen,” which also serves as a beautiful green park to go for a run or stroll.
The playground is a mix of old a new however what we found to be nice is the large space the playground and the various activities spans, meaning there is room for a lot of people. There are green grass areas allowing the opportunity for activities or blanket picnics while being within the vicinity.
Upon entering the playground area you’ll find a sand volleyball court and a basketball court. These then open into the large playground area. There are several picnic benches with grill possibilities (upon reservation), numerous standard wooden benches and trash bins spread across the sides of the play area.
Children of all ages will find something to do, from climbing to swinging to the water pump, zip line, and sand play area. The ground is a mix of either sand, gravel, dirt, or concrete, depending on where you currently are. There is also a toilet facility in the house (see pictures) next to the playground. You’ll find ping pong tables with additional seating and picnic benches on the far end of the playground – next to the water play area. There is also a fenced dog park that allows your furry friends to come along, should the need be, and to roam leashless without worry.
Overall, not a bad playground to visit with plenty of shaded and open areas, depending on your preference, and a place for the little ones to try a little bit of everything while enjoying a few hours in within what feels like nature.
