Mercado Central

Overview

The central market (Mercado Central) of Valencia is a public market that is located right across from the Llotja de la Seda and the church of the Juanes in central Valencia, Spain. It is one of the main works of the Valencian Art Nouveau.

If you would like to buy fresh food items such as vegetables, olives, meats, or seafood then this is a place to do so. There are many vendors that sell a variety of food items, along with souvenir shops and restaurants all located inside the market. It is a popular location for tourists and local Valencians as well.

It is one of the largest public markets in Europe that spans roughly 8,000 square meters. The beauty of the building stands out especially on account of the light that enters through the roof at various points, and through-colored window panels.

Most vendors sell food items, although souvenir shops and restaurants are located inside the market as well. It is a popular location for tourists and locals alike.
