Mallorca Pearl Museum
Overview
The island of Mallorca is known for it's pearls and the pearl industry. This Pearl Museum has a number of interesting displays dedicated to pearls. Among the exhibits are pictures of famous people wearing pearls, a bit about the history and how they are produced, a pearl jeweler's workstation complete with machinery, tools and pearls. You'll also find a videos showing how pearls are grown and harvested. Towards the back of this small museum you'll find a pearl shop that offers a variety of jewelry.
The museum is completely free and takes no more than 15 minutes, if you take the time to read the displays. Children will find it interesting to see how the pearls are made and what is done with them.
