Llevant Natural Park
Overview
While there are a few roads in the area, this specific spot is nearly center to the Peninsula de Llevant Natural Park, which is a 1671 hectares large natural park that offers a variety of hiking opportunities and covers a majority of the mountain range from Arta (Muntanya d'Arta). The highest peak here is the Serres de Llevant which includes the Puig Morei standing at 564 meters, the Puig des Porrassar at 491 meters, and Puig de sa Tudossa, at 441 m. The park is a Special Area of Protection for Birds and Community Interest since 2000. Wildlife such as tortoises, hedgehods and birds can be found here. There are also hidden bays such as the Arenalet del Verge.
The parking lot here is reachable only by car, and upon arrival you can already sense the silence and beauty of the surrounding mountain tops. You'll find sheep roaming freely and a sign that displays the various routes, hence depending on your children's age and stamina, there are quite a few routes to take. In total the walks range from 1 to 6.5 km with varying degrees of steepness and difficulty, hence there is something for all age groups. Some paths are paved for a few meters, however most are gravel, and potentially depending on type of stroller you may be able to walk around a few hundred meters. One can book guided tours on weekends and the park has a programme of nature-based activities for adults and children.
Make sure to pack something to eat and plenty to drink while hiking in the area.
