Hiking Urdenbacher Altrhein und Baumberger Aue
Overview
This natural preserve is a wonderful area for hiking and sports, with wide paths, also suitable for strollers to walk, hike, bike ride, etc. The area is roughly 30 hectares large and is in the area of the Auenschleife in Düsseldorfs south and near Monheim Baumberg. It is a regularly flooded area in the old Rhine area of the old river bed, which the Rhine finally gave up due to an extreme flood event in the 14th century (Urdenbacher Kämpe).
The area is characterized by oaks and ash trees.
