Central Library Düsseldorf
Overview
The new central library of Düsseldorf is a beautifully designed space that features all the amenities of a traditional library and more. There are workshops, digital work areas, and many various mediums that can be borrowed. The central library aims to be a platform for all local citizens to meet in regard to communication, culture and digital education.
The library has a large children's section in the back with books, primarily in German, however also in numerous other languages. On top of this there are various digital media including CDs, DVDs. You can also borrow board games. There is a small play area for younger kids along with a tree house for small kids to enjoy while parents browse books. There are also plenty of seating and tables to spend time at the library and play a board game or two.
Near the entrance of the library, on the other end from the children's area, there is also the new Xapo Cafe.
Library cards can be obtained at the information desk, are free for children registered in Düsseldorf and parents can do the same for a small yearly fee. The books are easily checked out at automated terminals and can be returned both inside and outside with automated return terminals that are available at certain hours.
Wunderschöne Neugestaltung im Vergleich zur alten Bibliothek am Hauptbahnhof. Die Kinderabteilung ist mit Brettspielen, Büchern, Tischen, einer Chill-out-Lounge und interaktiven Bereichen sehr schön.
