The market in Sineu is one of the oldest markets on the island, dating back to 1306. The market is very large and encompasses everything from clothing to footwear, leather, plants and flowers, vegetables to handmade crafts, jewelry to paintings and wood-works, and even a livestock market. The main activity takes place around the main square near the church and the Plaza del Fossar. It is recommended to come early, as most tourists and travel groups arrive in the later morning hours. Parking is recommended on the outskirts of the town, as most streets within the town will be closed off due to the market.
For families with children, the market itself with its variety of offerings and livestock also has a playground in the main square that includes swings, slides, and various other activities for young kids to take a break from strolling and shopping. There are also several restaurants around the area.
Fun fact: Sineu was the capital of Mallorca during the 13th century.
